About Hattie

Hattie Murdoch

Hattie Murdoch is a young songsmith/guitarist originating from Lincolnshire, now residing in Newcastle. With a classical background as a pianist and flautist, as well as a devoted passion for rap music and hip-hop culture, her eclectic style effortlessly blends the pop sheen of KT Tunstall and Ellie Goulding with the urgency and darkness of Sneaker Pimpz, Frou Frou and Chemical Brothers. Murdoch is a familiar face on the Gateshead and Newcastle live circuit; wielding a guitar as her weapon of choice to rapturous acclaim in venues like The Sage Gateshead and The Cluny.

Hattie's impressive charisma and networking skills have ensured her many contacts, collaborations, and opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic - from Newcastle to Cambridge, and Chicago and Michigan.

Murdoch has been working on her debut material at Loft Music studios in Newcastle upon Tyne with John Elliott and Andrew Archer of Trafik fame. Three songs have been produced thus far, Black Shadow, Submarine and Won't Back Down for her highly anticipated debut EP Ocean Floor. The EP will be issued in August 2011, with her debut single release coming later in 2011. The taster track for the EP, Submarine, has been a huge hit on Amazing Radio, peaking inside the top 3 of the chart and remaining inside the top 20 for 2 months.

This is just the beginning for one of the UK's brightest new stars.
