Bienvenue! Or I think it means welcome, either way….alreeet pet?! Not used to this old bloggery (yes that did say bloggery) but going to give it a try.

First of all….I’ve got my own website! Although it did say ‘Hattie Murdoch Coming Soon’ for a long time, I think it left people a little disappointed as they may have been expecting a webcam entry ;) but hopefully it is now clear that I’m not coming soon….I’ve bloody well arrived!  So…I suppose I should explain how this all came about.

I met Iain Crummie and brother  Darren  (the overworked, overstretched, understated, undoubtable, gaseous geniuses behind RGR..my goodness could I be any further up their arses?!) at an acoustic night and Iain asked if I would like to do some backing vocals for his stuff. He pressed a shiny copy of his EP into my grubby little hands and the rest is history in the making. We hope.

It soon became apparent that Iain and Darren didn’t just want my backing vocals…they wanted to mould me into the child they never had, and to be fair it was my last few months of uni - I don’t think I’d eaten for a week, had to start busking to buy cigarettes and beer… and with promises of bacon sandwiches and trips to the pub, who was I to say no?! I do believe that they saved my wee frazzled soul.

Something along the lines of a year ish later…here we are….joined forces with The Soviets, grabbed Elliot (their drummer) and Iain (their bassist..’oh my’ he gets around) to play on some of my original stuff, all gearing up to the bloody record label launch! How the heck did I suddenly get so lucky?!  Here’s what we’re all about…

“Reckless General Records is a collective of independent artists working with and for each other, to achieve success in the current commercial music environment.

The principle aim of the collaboration between acoustic soloist Iain Crummie, female pop songsmith Hattie Murdoch, and Indie group The Soviets is to cross-promote the acts to a unified audience using the digital revolution and the shortcomings of the traditional recording industry to its advantage.

Unlike many record labels, the day-to-day operation of RGR is managed by the musicians on its roster, each of whom claims ownership to an equal stake in the business. The assimilation of artists and business is unique, and serves to solidify the sense of unity within the project and the purpose of amalgamating resources.

The symbiosis at the heart of Reckless General Records extends past the commercial interests of its artists, and involves collaborations between acts, with most of our musicians fulfilling multiple capacities within the label”

That’s the official blurb. But basically I’m balls deep involved, and we’re all wanting to make a proper go of it and taking it as seriously as…well….a serious thing!

I’m gonna start blogging a bit more…I want to sort of let you know what I’m up to and fill in a few gaps I think from the last year..how it’s all progressed…song writing/gigs/recording and all that try and give. But to let you know, the Reckless General Records- Wor Official Label Launch And Partay (affectionately named as WOLLAP......yeah you like that?!?!) is on Friday 27th February @ The Cluny tickets £5 available now!

Much love
